History
The company Herkules started with the manufacture of bending machines, the production of the most diverse bent parts and with foundry technology. In the founding years the bending of circular geometrics attracted considerable attention. After many successful years at the Wetzlar location, Herkules made the move to the current location in Oberbiel in 1989. The company, under the management of Mr. Dieter Huttel (B.Eng.), focuses on the following three business activities: One of these is the development and production of bending machines, the manufacture of complex steel support structures and in the services field, where various profiles and tubing from steel and non-ferrous metals are bent according to client specifications for equipment, machinery and plants. |

Machine-building
Herkules today, as back then, is still associated with top-quality and durable bending machines. The previous broad variety of machines that included the most diverse range of sheet-bending machines was cut back in favour of the intensive further development of three-roller profile bending machines. The spectrum ranges from smaller machines to large bending machines with a bending capacity of Wx=3000cm³
One of our new developments is three-roller bending machines, which, equipped with the relevant roller sets and equipment, make the production of 3-dimensional, spiral-shaped profiles and tubing to the exact specifications of the client possible. Parallel to these activities a new generation of PC-controlled bending machines with powerful software was developed. This machine, which is equipped with a measuring system, is considered an absolute innovation in the field of bending technology. Tailor-made structural design solutions for special client requirements are naturally taken into account as much as standard solutions.
With the new BO 229 F3- CNC profile bending machine Herkules Wetzlar GmbH that can look back over a 130-year-old tradition again linked up with its range of well-known and robust profile bending machines.

The CNC model completes the BO model type as the top-most expansion stage based on a modular design principle.
At the same time the corner stone was laid herewith for a complete new model range. While this machine covers the small bending field up to a section modulus of 11cm³ first aspired to by Herkules Wetzlar GmbH, other CNC machine types up to a section modulus up to Wx=1600cm³ will follow. For this purpose a long development time is specifically reckoned with in order to avoid certain problematic issues, which are partly still state of the art today. The company consequently then offers a product that meets the highest demands.
In close co-operation with the Technology/Material Sciences and Mathematics faculties of several universities all production-related data was identified, which can be accessed in an extensive database. This way almost all current standard profiles and materials can be covered.
Due to the menu control and easily surveyable entry masks maintenance of the CNC machine has been substantially simplified. This innovative technology has put Herkules Wetzlar GmbH in the position to present their clients with an immediate result in the annexed bending division, if no special rollers are needed. However, if needed, the roller sets can be produced on short notice in the annexed mechanical production.
Our technical consulting and design can undertake the optimisation of production procedures, in particular for serial parts.
An overview of the most important facts about the new bending machine:
- Windows PC user interface
- Universal roller sets for current standard profiles
- Special rollers, also according to client requirements
- Can be switched from CNC to manual operation
- Single units and serial production
- Highest precision with control function
- Easy programming
Herkules Wetzlar GmbH provides its clients with solutions ranging from standard to tailor-made designs. |
Bending profiles
The most diverse profiles are bent into sections, rings and spirals at the Herkules factory premises. The following semi-finished products are machined:
- Steel profiles of a variety of shapes (I, L, U and T profiles)
- Rails, square and sheet material of various cross-sections
- Round and square tubing of various diameters and sidewalls
- Special profiles such as C and Z profiles
Non-corroding steel and aluminium semi-finished products are also increasingly used.

We have our own machines in operation to execute client orders.
We make our technical expertise available to our clients, especially for special tasks. This way we guarantee that our clients receive the best quality. Furthermore, in the process we can introduce further permanent improvements to our bending machines.
Our experienced employees are available for advice on potential bending problems. Because only excellent advice and consulting lead the client to select the bending machine best suited to his needs or as solution to potential bending problems.
Steel construction
The production of boilers and load-bearing structures with elaborate steel constructions are also manufactured complete by Herkules, as are large machine stands in various shapes and sizes. What is special to this is the combination of bending technology with connection technology and mechanical machining. That enables us to provide clients all-inclusive solutions. Unnecessary relocation of most large structures is thus avoided. This reduces transport costs tremendously and shortens lead times.
General
We are partners of the conveying, food, gas, environment and automotive technologies, of machine-building and steel construction.
The company has set its international focus on the Czech Republic in order to secure a presence in Eastern Europe.
There relations were established with the largest steel construction company in Ostrava and with renowned companies in the Brno area through interim co-operation.
In addition, a production plant is planned in the Brno-Zlin area.
The company is represented in the Czech Republic by the two sales representatives Mr. Bartosek for Moravia and Mr. Tuma for Bohemia (refer to Contact Info).
